🇬🇧Documentary and factual video: finding the story in the footage
I have worked in factual television and independent documentary for seventeen years, in Bristol, as a producer and an editor. I have cut films that worked and rescued several that did not, which is the more instructive half. Where I help: you have shot a lot of material and cannot find the film in it, your interview answers are all unusable because of how the questions were asked, or you have a good idea and no idea how to pitch it. The second of those is the most common and the most fixable, and it changes everything about what you can edit later. I will also give you an honest read on whether a project has a film in it at all. That is sometimes a hard twenty minutes, but it is cheaper than four months of editing towards something that was never there. Send me a short treatment or ten minutes of rushes beforehand.
