🇬🇧Interview coaching: competency questions and nerves
- 18 years of experience
I have interviewed and hired for eighteen years in the Midlands, mostly in the public sector and large charities, where interviews are structured and scored against written criteria. That format is learnable and almost nobody learns it. If you are being asked to describe a time when you handled conflict, you are being scored against a list, and a good story told without structure scores badly. People fail these interviews with excellent experience because they narrate instead of answering. We fix that with a structure you can use under pressure. I also work on nerves, practically. Shaking hands and a dry mouth are not character flaws and there are things that genuinely help in the five minutes before you go in. Send me the job description and the person specification before the session: in that document I can usually tell you the five questions you will be asked.

What sets them apart
Send me the person specification and I will usually tell you the five questions you will be asked. It is written in the document and almost no candidate reads it that way.
